Scene 1 Toby, the slow turtle, wanted to go with his friends to find the hidden waterfall. “You’re too slow, Toby!” laughed Benny, the rabbit. “We’ll get there before you even start!” Feeling a little sad but determined, Toby watched his friends leave and decided to follow at his own pace. Scene 2 Toby began walking slowly but steadily. Along the way, he noticed a hidden path the others didn’t see. “This looks interesting,” he said and followed it. Scene 3 Toby found a wooden bridge hidden behind bushes. It crossed a big, rushing river. “This must be a shortcut!” Toby thought and crossed it carefully. He waited on the other side, hoping he could help his friends. Scene 4 Benny, Finn, and the others came to the river. The water was too deep and fast to cross. “What do we do now?” Benny asked, feeling stuck. Finn sighed. “Maybe Toby could have helped,” he said. Scene 5 “Over here!” Toby shouted from the other side of the river. The friends looked up and saw Toby standing by the hidden bridge. They quickly ran to him. Scene 6 Toby led his friends across the bridge. “You found this all by yourself?” Finn asked in amazement. Benny smiled. “I was wrong, Toby. You’re not too slow after all.” Scene 7 With Toby leading, the group reached the waterfall. It sparkled in the sunlight, and everyone cheered. “Toby, you saved us!” Finn said. “You showed us that being slow doesn’t mean you can’t do great things,” Benny added. Toby smiled proudly, happy to be part of the adventure.

Page 4: In 1864, Otto won a war against Denmark with Austria’s help. Prussia gained Schleswig, and his puzzle was starting to come together. Page 5: In 1866, Otto defeated Austria in just seven weeks, giving Prussia control of northern Germany. Another piece of the puzzle fit! Page 6: In 1867, Otto formed the North German Confederation, uniting the northern states under Prussia’s leadership. He was close to his goal. Page 7: In 1870, Otto cleverly edited a telegram to provoke France, starting the Franco-Prussian War, which helped unite the southern German states with Prussia. Page 8: By 1871, Germany defeated France, capturing Napoleon III. This victory completed Otto’s puzzle of a united Germany! Page 9: On January 18, 1871, Wilhelm I was crowned Kaiser of a united Germany. Otto’s dream had finally come true. Page 10: Thanks to Otto’s strategies, Germany became a strong country. Our memory and our brain are amazing! However, it does not record our lives like a book! You cannot go back to a previous chapter to retrieve memories accurately. Attention issues, prior knowledge, and memory decay all interfere with the actual memories that are stored. There are so many different parts to our memory that all work separately and together to help us experience and remember life. Your task is to create a children's book about manny the monkey that creates a story highlighting KEY concepts for each aspect of memory: Encoding, Storage, & Retrieval. Your book should be like a “cliff notes” of memory and should walk me through these processes in an easy to understand manner. Have fun and be creative The book must play out like a cohesive story Requirements: ✧ Include all the section listed below ✧ Color!!! ✧ Title Page & Table of Contents ✧ Pictures dispersed throughout the book ✧ Effort is evident ✧ Information is CONCISE and put into easy to understand words, examples, etc. ✧ Make it MEANINGFUL to you! Use personal examples for concepts if possible! Three Main Chapters & Prologue (Introduction) ✓ Encoding o Automatic Vs. Effortful Processing ▪ Include explicit and implicit memories o Effortful Processing Strategies o Spacing Effect o Shallow Vs. Deep Processing (Meaningful) ✓ Storage o Explicit Memory System ▪ Frontal Lobes ▪ Hippocampus o Implicit Memory System ▪ Cerebellum ▪ Basal Ganglia o The Amygdala and Memory o Synaptic Changes and Memory Processing ✓ Retrieval o How do we measure retention? ▪ Recall, recognition, relearning o Retrieval Cues ▪ Priming ▪ Context Dependent Memory ▪ State Dependent Memory ▪ Serial Position Effect

Imoni sat on the couch, her fingers poking at her mouth. “Daddy, my tooth is wiggly!” she said, Her daddy, Arthur, smiled and knelt beside her. “That’s exciting, sweetheart! Let me see.” Imoni opened her mouth wide, and Daddy gently touched the tooth. “Yup, it’s ready to come out soon. You just have to keep wiggling it. “But what if it hurts?” Imoni asked, her voice trembling a little. Arthur sat down beside her and pulled her close. “Sometimes things that seem scary aren’t so bad when we trust the people who love us. Don’t worry. When the time is right, we’ll take care of it together.” “Daddy, my tooth feels so loose now!” Arthur looked at her and said, “I think it’s time to help that tooth come out. Can you get me a piece of string from the drawer?” Imoni’s eyes grew wide. “String? What for?” “We’ll tie it to your tooth and give it a quick pull.” Arthur explained gently. Imoni hesitated. “But what if it hurts, Daddy? Arthur knelt down to her level. “I know you’re scared, sweetheart. But trust me, I’ll be gentle, and it’ll only take a second. You’re so brave, and I’ll be right here with you.” Imoni looked into her daddy’s kind eyes. She took a deep breath and nodded. “Okay, Daddy. I trust you.” Arthur carefully tied the string around Imoni’s loose tooth. “Ready, sweetheart?” he asked. Imoni squeezed her eyes shut and held her daddy’s hand. “Ready,” she whispered. “On the count of three,” Arthur said. “One… two…” Before he got to three, he gave a quick tug, and the tooth popped right out! Imoni opened her eyes. “Wait… is it out?” Arthur held up the tiny tooth. “It’s out! You did it, Imoni!” Imoni touched the gap in her mouth and smiled. “It didn’t even hurt!” she said, giggling. “I told you,” Arthur said, hugging her. “Sometimes, trusting someone makes all the difference. "That night, Imoni placed her tiny tooth under her pillow and climbed into bed. She felt proud and brave. Arthur kissed her forehead. “Goodnight, my brave girl. I’m so proud of you.”
